About

Welcome to One Off Ceramics!

One Off is a small-batch, handmade ceramics shop that celebrates the beauty of organic forms and earthy palettes. San Francisco-based potter Chi is a late starter - she took her first-ever pottery class at age 30, fell deep into the rabbit hole, and let the art take her on a wild ride. What began as a curiosity quickly became a passion, leading her down a creative path she never expected. Although Chi had dabbled in photography and digital art, ceramics was just the thing that inspired her to start a business and put her name behind her work. The name One Off was originally a tongue-in-cheek nod to her early frustrations with repetition throwing and perfectionism. Over time, it evolved into a commitment to experimentation, play, and never getting stuck in one way of doing things.

Chi’s approach to ceramics strikes a balance between playfulness and intention. Her work embraces the tension between masculinity and femininity, the modern and the classic. Having lived in Russia, Vietnam, and now the U.S., she draws inspiration from botany, the changing seasons, and a deep sense of nostalgia. Each piece blends the functionality of contemporary homeware with timeless forms rooted in her cultural heritage.

Besides One Off and full-time employment, Chi works with local animal rescue groups to foster and help cats find their forever homes. Her love for animals, especially cats, inspires original designs that bring joy and comfort to many. Her one-eyed cat Sammy serves as the company model, spokesfeline, and customer care specialist.
